2017 School Concerts

pwschoolpgFriday, January 27, 2017
Concerts by school reservation
McIntyre Hall

Our School Concerts will feature the captivating story of Peter and the Wolf, by Sergei Prokofiev.  Jerome Chandler will narrate the tale of Peter who captures the hungry and menacing wolf with the help of his animal friends and hunters.  This musical gem is a delight to the child in all of us!

The Skagit Symphony is grateful to the Anacortes Arts Festival, for their generous grant in support
of our school concerts.

Program

Peter and the Wolf

by Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953)

—- Jerome Chandler, narrator

This 45-minute program is designed to give 5th graders from Skagit County public and private schools a musical experience at the Skagit Symphony and to learn about symphonic music.

Presented in beautiful McIntyre Hall, the concert encourages students to learn about the music, the instruments of the orchestra, the composers, and geographical locations that produced the music.  All learning materials for the 2017 concerts will be available after Thanksgiving 2016, for teachers and students on the Symphony’s Education page.

Reservations for these three school concerts are arranged in September, by the School and Family Concert Committee working with principals at each elementary school in Skagit County.

Bus transportation for students is paid by generous donors to the Symphony.  We welcome your Donations to any of our Education Programs.  Use the Donate button below: schoolbus75sq.jpg
