Skagit Symphony weaves fantasies of magic carpets and Sinbad’s tempest-tossed ship at sea with the orchestral showpiece, Scheherazade, and a spooky Night on Bald Mountain. Jill Whitman enchants with Arturo Marquez’s harp concerto, Mascaras (“Masks”).
Pre-Concert Chat - You're invited to arrive a little early to join Maestro Wheatley and guest artist, Jill Whitman, for an intimate pre-concert chat. Theater doors open at 6:40 pm for general seating, with the chat beginning at 6:45 pm. When the chat concludes, attendees will leave the theater and re-enter with their ticket to take their reserved seats for the concert.

ARTIST BIO
Jill Whitman, Harp
Jill Whitman has taught at Western Washington University since 1997 and has had a prosperous harp career since then. She received bachelor’s degrees in both German and harp from the University of Washington, and a master’s degree in music from WWU. She has performed with many ensembles such as the Seattle Symphony and Opera, Spokane Symphony, and the American Sinfonietta. She currently serves as principal harpist for the Whatcom and Yakima Symphonies, and is the founding member and arranger for the NOEL ensemble, a Celtic/Classic group featuring strings, flute, percussion, harps, and poetry.
